As part of developing greater corporate social responsibility, Avatar Partners Pte Ltd has chosen to support Loden Foundation in Bhutan. We selected the Loden Entrepreneurship Programme as we strongly believe in helping talented young people start innovative, sustainable business ventures and developing a new generation of responsible business leadership.
The Loden Foundation is one of the pioneers in promoting entrepreneurship in Bhutan. Aimed at benefitting young graduates from schools and colleges, the foundation runs business training programmes, gives interest-free capital funds to start businesses and provides support through its mentorship programme, monitoring scheme and resource centre. As thousands of young people leave schools and colleges, unemployment started to grow. Civil service which was the main employer in the past is now saturate and private sector is still only beginning. The programme aims to help self-starters in business.
Through the success of LEP entrepreneurs, we hope that it will inspire, generate positive change in other young people and stimulate more job opportunities for Bhutan’s private sector. Why Bhutan? We believe in the essence of the Gross National Happiness philosophy which promotes an enlightened and happy society – it is what makes Bhutan unique from the rest of the world and keeping alive the last Shangri-La!

Loden Entrepreneurship Programme is open to international business executives who may be keen to volunteer as business mentors to young entrepreneurs in Bhutan. A business mentor is someone that can provide mentee with advice, coaching and support in order to plan and achieve success in the business.
It does not matter what industry the entrepreneur is in – there are hundreds of successful business executives who have ‘made it’ and would be an excellent resource to Loden’s budding entrepreneurs. Currently, the LEP is funding 26 business projects covering a wide range of industries: shoe cleaning, music, tyre re-treading, salon, etc.
We are striving to help Loden Foundation build an international mentor team who can give the entrepreneurs technical and moral support in all areas - it may be matter related to accounting/financial management; human resource management issues; international relations; capital raising or just to provide creative ideas.
